D and J's Rad Campaign
The code of law in the Isle of Bones isn’t actually standardized, as the many Jarls can never agree upon the same thing, but there are a few punishments agreed upon for some crime.
The Blood Eagle is the highest punishment for the most severe crimes, usually treason or crimes against a Jarl. Very often it is used to instigate a blood feud between two men, or to get revenge if someone murdered a loved one.
Any other punishment is decided by a TIng, a council of the accused’s peers, composed of 12 , 24, or 36 me depending on the importance of the case. If they are found guilty by the TIng, they are fined or pronounced an Outlaw, meaning they must live in the wilderness, no one can assist them in any way, and they are free game to be killed by their enemies.
